Both my kids go here. As of this review it’s been almost a year. My kids love these coaches and this gym puts a lot of work into these kids. So excited to see how far they go with it! If you are on the fence, try out a class!

Diamond State has been the best thing we’ve done for our son! He’s improved in every way, especially with confidence, coachability, and strength. Jiujitsu has unlocked his competitiveness and it’s translated to other sports as well.

The Benefits of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for Kids – and Why Diamond State Martial Arts Is the Right Choice

Confidence Through Discipline

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) teaches more than self-defense — it builds character. Kids learn discipline, focus, and respect both on and off the mat. Every new technique mastered helps them see the power of perseverance, building self-confidence that carries into school, sports, and life.

Physical Fitness & Coordination

BJJ provides a full-body workout that develops balance, flexibility, and coordination. Unlike traditional team sports, BJJ lets every child progress at their own pace while staying active, improving strength, endurance, and motor skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Problem-Solving & Focus

On the mats, kids learn to think strategically. BJJ is often called “human chess” because it encourages problem-solving and calm thinking under pressure. These mental skills translate directly to better focus in school and stronger emotional control.

Respect & Teamwork

At Diamond State Martial Arts, respect is the foundation of every class. Students learn to listen, follow direction, and work together — creating friendships and a sense of community that lasts well beyond training sessions.

Kids Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Kids Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is practiced while wearing the traditional BJJ uniform. The Gi allows students to learn grips, escapes, positional control, takedowns, and other fundamental techniques that form a strong foundation in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Gi training encourages children to slow down, pay attention to details, and solve problems using technique rather than strength. As students learn new skills and overcome challenges, they develop patience, confidence, discipline, and greater control over their movements.

No previous martial arts experience is required. Our coaches introduce every technique through clear, age-appropriate instruction and carefully supervised practice.

Kids No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Kids No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a faster-paced form of grappling practiced in athletic clothing instead of the traditional Gi. Because students cannot rely on uniform grips, they learn to control movement through positioning, balance, timing, and proper technique.

No-Gi classes teach age-appropriate takedowns, escapes, positional control, and submission-grappling fundamentals. Training helps children improve their speed, coordination, body awareness, fitness, and ability to remain calm while solving problems under pressure.

By participating in both Gi and No-Gi classes, students develop a more complete and adaptable Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skill set.
